CONCEPT OF THE SYLLABUS
QURAN AS A COMPULSORY TEXTBOOK IN SCHOOLS OF THE WORLD
The objective of incorporating Holy Quran as a textbook in
schools is to educate the students concerning the Message of God. This serves as an
edification of the young through teaching the Holy Quran, the divine book of
guidance to all mankind.
For using this book of syllabus, the Holy Quran is the basic book
of study. It is therefore recommended to use the simplest translation available of the
divine book in ones own local / native language or mother tongue, and should carry
direct meaning with no alteration as it causes controversies to different sects.
The purpose and advantage of using the simplest translation of the Holy
Quran available in ones mother tongue or in the medium of instruction in
school for teaching is that, to be easily understood by all levels of students
intellects.
In collaboration of the above, this syllabus is produced in English
language so that anyone who wishes to translate in his or her own respective language
could do so with no difficulty.
The main purpose of teaching the Holy Quran in schools is to
introduce the Message of God to mankind at early stage of their lives, and for them to
understand the meaning of the message. Consequently, as the young grow up, the Message of
God could be pondered in their hearts and shall live up to them in order to have a
successful life in this world and in the life hereafter. Therefore, the general idea of
some people that the education of Arabic language, the memorization of the Holy
Quran and its translation to ones own mother tongue are must; it is profoundly
advocated that this idea should be done in later stage of the students life. This is
to avoid giving extra burden to the students, since it is self-explanatory that learning
Arabic language to Non-speaking Arabic people will absolutely take time and hard to
achieve.
Although the study of the Holy Quran in ones mother tongue
is stressed upon, but recitation in Arabic is "SAWAB" that should not be missed
by worshippers and other people.
The aim of this syllabus is to complete the study of the Holy
Quran from Class I to Class X or from ages 6 to 15 years.
The first three years, which are Classes I, II and III or ages 6, 7 and
8 years are preparatory levels. For the actual study of the Holy Quran will start
from Class IV or at the age of 9, and within 7 years, the students will accomplish the
study of the Holy Quran when they enter Class X or at the age of 15.
Program schedules of the above studies can be adjusted in accordance
with the facilities, requirements and convenience of the concerned country.
This syllabus has been prepared after careful discussions and reaching
consensus of scholars of different sects, prominent, thinkers, educationist and
psychologist; and had avoided all factors which may create controversy. Their opinion and
suggestions were given due importance.
However, whilst every efforts is taken during the years of study of the
syllabus, suggestions and corrections are sincerely appreciated and can be incorporated to
provide the best syllabus for the students. |
